No longer will you have to agonize over what to order or cook for your next brunch. Instead, pick one (or two) items from the suggestions below to put together your perfect brunch.

Carbs
Usually, the star and focus of a brunch is the carbohydrate items that everything else is built around. We’re talking waffles, potato hash, French toast, bread, croissants or even the English favorite crumpets!
Of course, the most popular item continues to be light and fluffy pancakes, or flapjacks as they are also sometimes known. The thing is that there is a real art to getting that way. The good news is you can stand on the shoulders of giants and use resources like this food blog, where you’ll find an excellent recipe for the fluffiest pancakes ever! Just don’t forget to drench them in maple syrup and a big dollop of butter.
Protein
We’re not talking eggs here, as they come in a brunch category all of their own. Instead, we’re discussing meat and meat substitutes, such as sausage and bacon. Sausage is a great option to pair with pancakes as the salty and sweet flavours complement each other nicely. Choose a chorizo style if you like it spic, or opt for cured sausages like salami for a more European feel.
Bacon is also a beloved breakfast item. If you are all about the crunch, then crispy streaky bacon will be your jam. Although a nice slice of thick-cut back bacon along with your eggs can be a real treat.
If you’re a non-meat eater, then a good vegetarian sausage or bacon rasher can work well as a replacement, especially if they have those smoky flavours that go so well with other breakfast items.
Eggs
It’s not brunch without eggs, and deciding on how you would like your eggs cooked can be the most important decision of the day. Fried, sunny side up is a great classic choice as it provides runny egg yoke that can be used to dip your other breakfast items in. The same goes for poached eggs, as long as they are done competently. Then there are scrambled eggs, which, when cooked low and slow, create a creamy taste and texture that is ideal for brunch
Fruits and veggies
Avocados smashed and sprinkled with a few chili flakes make a filling, but wholesome option packed with good omega fats. Berries such as strawberries, Blueberries and raspberries are a top choice, especially when combined with other sweet items such as pancakes and waffles.
For a more savory note, you can see that adding cooked tomatoes, spinach and peppers to the mix. These items combine especially well with egg-based dishes, and can provide not only extra flavor but also additional fiber and other nutrients.Â
Coffee
Don’t believe people when they say it doesn’t matter what drink you have with your brunch, or that the perfect accompaniment is tea. It’s not. What is the perfect liquid accompaniment to any brunch? A nice, strong cup of coffee. Why? Well, I’ll tell you. Not only is it delicious, it’s caffined packed so that means whether you are planning a day of shopping, recovering from the night before, or just want to stay awake during a lazy day. Coffee is the perfect option. It also comes in so many delicious varieties and flavors such as iced coffee, cold brew, frappuccinos, cappuccinos, espressos, etc, so you’ll never get bored!Â
