Apex Trader Funding vs Bulenox — Which Offers Better Value for Futures Traders?

Apex Trader Funding pays 100% of approved payouts (capped at six per account) and allows up to 20 funded accounts. Bulenox pays 100% of the trader’s first $10,000 profit profile-wide, then 90/10, and allows up to 5 Master accounts, with a possible path to live capital after three payouts. Evaluation costs, payout caps, and platform needs differ.

Apex trader funding vs bulenox — which offers better value for futures traders?

What Are Apex Trader Funding and Bulenox?

Apex Trader Funding and Bulenox are futures prop firms that assess traders through rule-based evaluations. You purchase an account, attempt to reach its profit target, and avoid breaching its drawdown and position limits. Passing can provide access to a simulated funded account from which eligible profits may be paid as real rewards.

A futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell an underlying asset at a specified price on a future date. Prop firm traders speculate on price movements in these contracts to generate profits, and positions are generally closed or rolled over into another contract before expiration. Both firms support futures listed on exchanges within the CME Group. Commonly available products include E-mini S&P 500 futures (ES), E-mini Nasdaq-100 futures (NQ), or Crude oil futures (CL).

The account balance shown by a prop firm is not money deposited into your personal brokerage account. It establishes the program’s profit target, drawdown allowance, contract limit, and payout conditions.

Apex and Bulenox provide similar market exposure, but their account limits, platform connections, risk controls, activation costs, and withdrawal structures differ. Those conditions determine how much practical value you receive from the displayed account size.

How Do Apex and Bulenox Compare on Drawdown?

Both firms let traders choose how their maximum loss threshold is calculated, in real time as trades move, or once per day at session close. The choice affects how much room a trade has to move against you before triggering account closure.

Their Daily Loss Limits interact with the trailing drawdowns in a similar pattern, while contract scaling differs.

Drawdown is the decline an account can experience before reaching its maximum-loss threshold. The calculation method matters because a trailing threshold can reduce your available loss room after a profitable trade.

An intraday trailing drawdown follows the account’s highest equity value in real time. Unrealized gains can therefore raise the threshold before a trade is closed. If the trade reverses, the higher threshold does not move back down.

An EOD drawdown updates from qualifying results at the end of the trading session. Temporary open profit does not immediately raise the threshold. However, once the new threshold has been calculated, it is enforced during the next session and can still be breached if the account balance falls below it.

How Do Evaluation Rules and Fees Compare From Purchase to Funding?

Apex and Bulenox now offer one-time, non-renewing evaluations with 30 days of access. Neither firm requires a minimum number of evaluation trading days. A trader who reaches the target while following every rule can potentially pass in one session. The 30-day access period still applies if you choose to progress more slowly.

Apex Evaluation and Activation Costs

An Apex evaluation purchase provides 30 consecutive calendar days, including weekends and market holidays. The account expires automatically at the end of that period, and no cancellation is required. If you fail the evaluation or do not reach the target before expiration, the account cannot be extended or reset. You must purchase a new evaluation, which begins with a fresh balance and another 30-day period.

Apex offers two relevant purchase types: Standard evaluations require a separate one-time Performance Account (PA) activation payment after passing, while All-In or No Activation Fee evaluations set the corresponding Performance Account activation cost to zero. Apex includes Level 1 market data with the evaluation. Optional Depth of Market feeds or additional exchange data can create separate charges.

Bulenox Evaluation and Activation Costs

Bulenox’s standard Qualification accounts are sold as one-time purchases with 30 days of access. After you reach the profit target, Bulenox reviews the Qualification Account. Approval does not automatically create the Master Account (funded account). You must complete the required documents and pay the activation fee within seven days after the activation link is issued. The activation fee includes account maintenance and standard market data. Professional traders may face additional exchange-data charges based on their classification.

Bulenox also provides alternatives to the standard Qualification route:

  • Momentum: One payment covers the evaluation and subsequent Momentum Master activation.
  • Fast Track: Provides direct access to a simulated funded environment without a separate evaluation or activation fee.

These routes have their own drawdown and payout rules. Their higher or combined upfront pricing should be compared with the cost of completing a standard Qualification Account and activating a Master Account.

Platform Access, Market Coverage, and Multi-Account Scaling

Apex provides the larger funded-account allowance, while Bulenox supports a wider selection of third-party interfaces through Rithmic.

Apex Platforms and Account Limits

Apex offers accounts through three main connections:

  • Rithmic.
  • Tradovate.
  • WealthCharts.

The connection is selected when you purchase the account. Apex does not allow an existing account to be converted from one connection to another because each uses a different setup and fee structure. Supported contracts include equity-index, energy, currency, agricultural, and micro futures. Available products can vary by connection. Tradovate, for example, also supports specified Eurex products that may require additional exchange subscriptions.

Rithmic connections support platforms and tools such as R | Trader Pro, NinjaTrader, Quantower, and Sierra Chart.

Tradovate connections support the Tradovate web and desktop platforms, mobile apps, and integrations with platforms such as TradingView and NinjaTrader.

The larger advantage is horizontal account scaling. Apex allows up to 20 active Performance Accounts. This limit applies across EOD and Intraday PAs and across all three connections. It also applies collectively to people, businesses, and accounts associated with the same household. However, every PA retains its own balance, Drawdown threshold, Trading history, and Payout eligibility.

Traders may copy orders across permitted Apex accounts to place similar trades simultaneously instead of entering each order individually, but copying increases identical directional exposure and cannot be used to hedge or offset risk between accounts.

Bulenox Platforms and Account Limits

Bulenox uses Rithmic as its account and market-data connection. Through that connection, traders can use more than 20 compatible interfaces, including R | Trader Pro, NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart, MultiCharts, Bookmap, MotiveWave, and ATAS.

This selection can be valuable if your strategy relies on a specific charting, order-flow, or automation environment. Connecting through a third-party API or trader-composite service can add a monthly fee, so platform compatibility does not necessarily mean the service is included in the original account price.

Bulenox currently permits up to five active Master-level accounts under one profile and Rithmic user ID. The limit is shared across standard Master, Fast Track, and Momentum Master accounts. Qualification Accounts remain unlimited. Each account has individual limits, and profits from one account cannot be used to protect another from a breach.

Payout Rules and Profit Shares

Apex offers a 100% split and earlier payout eligibility, but every PA ends after six approved payouts. Bulenox requires more trading days and eventually reduces the trader’s share to 90%, but its standard Master structure removes payout caps after the third withdrawal.

Apex Payout Conditions

Apex’s 100% approved PA payout comes with conditions to satisfy its safety-net, consistency, qualifying-day, minimum-balance, and payout-cap requirements.

To request an EOD PA payout, you need five qualifying trading days. Each day must reach the minimum net profit specified for the account size, for example:

Apex PA sizeRequired profit on each qualifying day
$25,000$100
$50,000$250

A day with a trade but insufficient profit does not count toward the five-day requirement. This required profit also applies to Intraday PAs. Apex requires no single profitable day to account for 50% or more of profits since the last approved payout, or since account start if none has occurred. If it does, keep trading until total profit lowers the best-day percentage below 50%; the account remains open.

Only profit above the safety net is eligible for withdrawal. Apex calculates this safety net as the account’s maximum drawdown allowance plus $100 above the starting balance. The minimum payout is $500, and each request is subject to a maximum withdrawal cap based on account size and payout number out of a total of 6 payouts. After the 6th payout, the PA closes. The trader may qualify for another PA through a new evaluation, while selected traders may also be considered for Apex’s live program.

Bulenox Payout Conditions

A standard Bulenox Master Account requires at least ten separate trading days before each payout. After a payout is completed, another ten-day period must be accumulated for the next request. Payouts are processed once a week on Wednesdays. To enter the next Wednesday cycle, the request must generally be submitted by the preceding Friday deadline.

Bulenox pays the trader 100% of the first $10,000 withdrawn across the profile. After cumulative profile payouts pass $10,000, the trader receives 90%, and Bulenox retains 10%. The profile-wide calculation is important. If you operate several Master Accounts, each account does not receive its own separate $10,000 tier.

The first three withdrawals are capped according to account size:

Bulenox Master sizeMaximum for each of the first three payouts
$25,000$1,000
$50,000$1,500
$100,000$1,750
$150,000$2,000

After the third payout, the trader must still meet the $1,000 minimum, ten-day requirement, Safety Threshold Reserve, and 40% consistency rule. The reserve that must remain above the starting balance ranges from $1,600 on the $25,000 account to $4,600 on the $150,000 account. The balance must cover both this reserve and the requested withdrawal.

Bulenox measures consistency differently from Apex. The 40% consistency calculation continues to account for previous profits rather than restarting after each payout, unlike Apex’s approach. Previous profits therefore continue affecting later consistency calculations.

After three successful payouts, Bulenox may consider the Master Account for a live Funded Account. The transition remains subject to the firm’s review and is not automatic.

Which Offers Better Value: Apex Trader Funding or Bulenox?

Apex trader funding vs bulenox — which offers better value for futures traders? 1 apex trader funding pays 100% of approved payouts (capped at six per account) and allows up to 20 funded accounts. Bulenox pays 100% of the trader’s first $10,000 profit profile-wide, then 90/10, and allows up to 5 master accounts, with a possible path to live capital after three payouts. Evaluation costs, payout caps, and platform needs differ.

Apex Trader Funding offers strong overall value through simpler account management, flexible scaling, faster payout eligibility, and 100% retention of approved withdrawals. However, Bulenox may suit traders who prefer its platform, rules, or account options.

Apex may suit you if you want:

  • A higher number of funded accounts.
  • A choice between EOD and real-time intraday drawdown.
  • A 100% approved-payout share.
  • A simplified funded account path with unified yet clear rules.

Bulenox may suit you if you want:

  • EOD drawdown account options.
  • Rithmic-compatible platform interfaces.
  • An earlier review point for a live account.
  • A choice between evaluation and direct funding access.

Risk Disclosure: Futures trading and funding evaluations involve substantial risk and fees. Evaluation and initial funded-stage accounts are commonly simulated, and passing does not guarantee a payout or access to live capital. The conditions referenced here reflect official information available in September 2026. Confirm the current rules and prices for the exact account before purchasing.
