How Technology is Changing Healthcare

Healthcare is changing in front of our eyes, with advances in technology and digital healthcare making waves in the industry. We’re looking at artificial intelligence and 3D printing, surgery, robotics and nanotechnology that is changing the way we approach healthcare. Medical professionals have to familiarize themselves with the latest developments if they want to be able to control the technology and the advancement, rather than the other way around. As with any industry, the future of healthcare must work hand in hand with the advancements of technology to be able to stay ahead.

How technology is changing healthcare

Understanding what that looks like in practice is something completely different to what you would think. Some people, for example, are nervous about artificial intelligence, but AI advancements in hearing technology have changed lives for the better. Technology is changing, but so is medical technology on a bigger level. Let’s take a look at how technology is really changing the way Healthcare is going to be in the future.

  1. Artificial intelligence. With any industry, we are watching artificial intelligence come in and redesign, and AI has the potential to redesign technology in healthcare entirely. It’s not just in hearing technology, but AI is having its own revolution and most AI driven technologies and healthcare are finally becoming available and useful for everyday people. There are some companies looking to reduce the cost of medicine by using supercomputers to predict from a database of molecular structures which potential medicines can work. There are other companies that are using large language models that are trained for medical purposes. AI is being used to advance healthcare and we should be getting on board.
  2. XR. Extended reality has the potential to be major. Collectively, virtual reality, mixed reality, and augmented realities fall under the umbrella term of extended reality. Immersiveness of virtual reality means that there are appropriate fits for drug free alternatives for mental health care and pain management. Medical professionals are learning to use extended reality to be able to fix different medical scenarios.
  3. Wearable technology and health trackers. Apple Watches, Fitbit, and wearable tech are allowing people to take more care of their health in the general domain. This means that they are able to feel more empowered as patients and take more notice of their heart health and their BMI. Doing this allows us to choose health whenever we can, rather than needing to go to the doctors all the time.
  4. Portable diagnostics. If you look at the solutions that are being bred in diabetic Medicare, it’s all about using portable diagnostics. There are devices that allow you to check your vital signs and your blood sugars wherever you may be. You can even update your implant for diabetes on the go, which means you don’t have to go and see a healthcare professional every single time you need insulin.
How technology is changing healthcare

Technology is the new future and we should be embracing it as much as possible so that we can learn from it and advance with it rather than fight against progression.
