5 Tips for Beginner Pickleball Players

MK Library

Pickleball is a relatively new sport that has taken over the nation in the last two years.

All you need to get started playing this simple yet addicting game is a few pickleballs and a cheap paddle.

Here are a few tips to remember as you get started.

Develop a consistent underhand serve by aiming for the middle of your opponent's square. Avoid fast serves and serving near the sidelines in games.

1. SAFE SERVES

When at the kitchen line, always be ready to volley by keeping your paddle in front of your chest.

2. KEEP YOUR PADDLE HIGH

Both the serve and serve return must bounce in the court before you can hit the ball. Stay at the back line until you return the serve return!

3. STAY BACK FOR THE RETURN

Practicing controlled shots over slams will improve your game.

4. PLACEMENT OVER POWER

Make your way to the kitchen line (non-volley line) quickly to be ready for dinks and fast volleys at the net.

5. GET TO THE KITCHEN ASAP
