2023 Wildflower Hotspots

The 2023 California wildflower season is fast approaching! These are some picturesque locations within the golden state to view wildflowers this spring.

northern california

Eastern Sierras

 Blooming usually occurs from late May to July. You may see you may see orange tiger lilies, yellow mule ears, blue lupine, wild iris, and desert peach.

southern california

Carrizo Plain National Monument

This 250,000-acre plain becomes a wildflower hotspot in spring, drawing in thousands of visitors in a good bloom year.

Witness vast hillsides and meadows painted in yellow, orange and purple. The bloom usually begins in mid-March and peaks sometime in late March or early April. 

northern california

North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve

This unique landscape offers beautiful vistas of waterfalls, lava outcrops, and open meadows blanketed in spring wildflowers.

Wildflowers emerge on this elevated basalt mesa from early March to mid-May. 

southern california

Anza-Borrego  Desert State Park

Located in the Sonoran Desert, this park covers over 600,000 acres. It is known for its stunning desert landscapes, unique geology, and rich cultural history.

Desert wildflowers bloom from mid-February to April.

Southern California

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve

The reserve is famous for its rolling hills of poppies. With the abundant winter rains this year, officials are predicting an above-average bloom.

Blooming occurs from mid-February to mid-May.
