Bottled in Bond Cocktail Recipe

The Bottled in Bond cocktail was created by BAR 1661, combining fine Irish Whiskey, bourbon, and apricot liqueur. Crafted of high quality ingredients, this cocktail shows off the complex layers of each whiskey with just the tiniest lilt of apricot.

Powers Three Swallow is a single pot still Irish whiskey, meaning it’s distilled from a mix of malted and unmalted barley in a traditional copper pot still. This whiskey is a proud creation from the renowned Midleton Distillery, located in the lush countryside of County Cork, Ireland.

Now, let’s dive into the flavors that make this liquid gold so special, shall we? On the nose, you’ll be greeted with a beautiful bouquet of aromas: ripe orchard fruits such as pears and apples, mingling with the sweet scent of honey, and a hint of toasted oak, giving it a touch of warmth and complexity.

As you take your first sip, you’ll be welcomed by a smooth, creamy texture that rolls gently over your palate. The taste brings forth flavors of baked apples, toasted almonds, and a delightful hint of spicy cinnamon. You may also notice a subtle nuttiness and a whisper of barley sugar sweetness, giving this whiskey a well-rounded, balanced character.

Finally, the finish. Powers Three Swallow has a medium-length finish that’s as satisfying as it is memorable. Expect lingering notes of sweet vanilla, a touch of zesty citrus, and a warming sensation from that delightful oak spice. It leaves you with a comforting, velvety aftertaste that’ll make you yearn for another sip.

Powers Three Swallow Irish Whiskey is a marvelous choice for those looking to explore the world of Irish whiskey or simply enjoy a fine dram. Its delightful flavor profile and smooth character make it a pleasure to sip, whether neat, on the rocks, or in a classic cocktail where you want each ingredient to shine. Cheers!

Bottled in bond cocktail recipe ingredients

The original Bottled in Bond Cocktail recipe calls for mastic, a plant resin, but I was unable to source it in the United States and removed it for this recipe variation.

You might also go for a bourbon which is actually bottled in bond, however, I really liked the flavor profile of Widow Jane with Powers Three Swallow.
